About My Site
Hello, I’m Velinda
My journey, like so many people, started in childhood. With a very unstable upbringing and many detours from a “normal” childhood, I was always longing for answers. Then, in my early twenties, I became interested in learning about life, behavior, healing trauma, and finding a better way. At first, I started a journal of quotes and meaningful inspiration I heard from people in my life. Over the years, I accumulated many journals of these heartfelt sentiments and started to embrace them in my life. For over 20 years, I have read, written, and researched everything I could from experts and everyday people on the above subjects. My life since then and to now has been dedicated to self-study from the best of the best authors, seminars, online summits, podcasts, and anything I could immerse myself in to find the answers.
I knew I couldn’t let all this enlightenment fade, as I wanted to share what I had learned. The desire to bring all this study to light started one night, before a surgery. I stayed up all night and wrote A Letter to My Children… about life, not about goodbye. Then I put my letter away for about 20 years as my life needed more wisdom; however, that was the beginning of writing about what I had learned and ultimately turning my life wisdom into my books and my websites. From that letter, I wrote my first book, This River Called Life, a Letter to My Children, published in 2012 a book of timeless wisdom for anyone. I had already started my first website, Positive Thoughts on Life, in December of 2010.
To prepare for the new life that was eventually to come, I had first to experience an unexpected, major life-changing event. Never mind all the childhood struggles; this crushing life crisis was painfully worse and lasted many years. However, as these seemingly devastating storms usually are, this turn of events was actually the pathway into the life I had been searching for. There is always opportunity in adversity, but we are frequently so buried in simply getting through that we don’t recognize the change in destiny that has opened up for us. During these years, I engulfed myself in learning and reading everything I could about life trauma, overcoming, rebuilding, spirituality, transformation, and a holistic, positive way of life. I read from the best of the best authors whose own struggles changed them and their lives for the better. Their inspirational words, stories, and advice were invaluable, and I found in reading that I could change my life with what I learned. I also realized that through books and the wealth of information online, I could reach multitudes of people in need with my message.
All people want to be happy, to have meaningful lives, to find love, and to make a difference. However, when life turns on us, we feel those dreams are gone forever. But out of the shadows of heartbreak comes new life and a beautiful transformation. With the misfortunes we experience and the emotional depth that comes from the storms of life, we can know ourselves better, and our destiny becomes apparent, possibly for the first time. This is when life finally falls together, and we go in the direction we are meant to.
Please join me on this journey of starting over as a resource for personal growth, self-discovery, and creating a meaningful life.
