Thoughts on Starting Over
The truth is nothing happens again without taking a chance
It’s a somber realization that bad things happen to good people by bad people. Good people get caught by the things bad people do because they don’t see it coming. It’s not who they are because they don’t think about doing bad things to other people. Good people don’t deserve this, but it happens and sometimes causes a good person to shut down, thinking negatively and living in a cynical world.
Too many people live from yesterday’s fear, heartache and disappointments and try to protect themselves from bad things ever happening again, never allowing themselves to open up to new life. They believe this protection will keep them safe. However, living in protected isolation is certainly not without its own kind of pain and is far more damaging than taking a chance on new love and life again.
These people travel cautiously with shallow attempts at what they think will get them through yet still feeling empty because their heart really isn’t into those trivial pursuits. And what is meaningless never develops into what they really want and need. There’s an empty hole inside and the protection they seek is their own demise
A good life involves a lot of overcoming, persistence, letting go, moving on and never giving up even though you may want to. Disappointments and heartache are a part of life and learning how to accept and recreate life after experiencing the downturns is a necessary skill we must develop. It involves loving yourself enough to never give up no matter how difficult the journey. You have to feel you deserve, to know you matter and are worthy of a better life. The truth is that nothing happens again without taking a chance.
